Job Description:





Position Title:  Controller-Centralized Hotel Accounting

Reports to : Chief Financial Officer

Responsible for overseeing and performing a variety of duties related to the daily and monthly accounting process for multiple full and limited service hotels in a central accounting environment






Duties will include, but are not limited to:


Supervision of Property Accountants and review of monthend closing workpapers

Bank Reconciliations

Month End Journal Entries

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

Cash management

Forecasting, Budgeting, Cash Projections

Financial Statement Preparation including Balance Sheet, Statement of Cashflows and Statement of Income & Expense

Accounts Payable

Accounts Receivable, Credit & Collection

Variance Analysis

Assist Hotel Management with implementation and execution of accounting, payroll & benefit related policies and procedures

Develop and monitor accounting controls

Perform internal audits

Coordinate and prepare documentation as may be required to assist with external audits

Assist the Chief Financial Officer

Other projects and tasks as may be assigned from time to time consistent with the needs of the organization


Requirements

To be effective the controller should have the following knowledge, skills and experience:


Minimum 3-5 years general hospitality accounting

Prior experience as a hotel controller or assistant controller

Knowledge of the Uniform System of Accounts

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)

Multi-Property experience

Self-starter

Detail oriented







Advanced computer skills (especially Excel)

M3 AccKnowledge Accounting application

General Ledger and month end closing

Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management Experience

Knowledge of PMS systems and their function

Franchise experience – Marriott, Hilton, IHG or Choice

Able to differentiate between anticipated and actual transaction outcomes

Turnover and Opening experience

Payroll, time keeping, benefits and HR systems and procedures

State sales, use, lodging and payroll tax compliance

Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
